Michael Heintz is an Associate Professor of Theology and Visiting Director of the Marten Program in Homiletics and Liturgics at the University of Notre Dame. He holds a PhD in Historical Theology (Latin and Greek Patristics) from Notre Dame (2008) and has served as Dean of Mount St. Mary's Seminary and Director of the MDiv Program. His research focuses on Patristic theology, Ressourcement thinkers like Louis Bouyer and Jean Daniélou, and liturgical spirituality. He has authored translations of Origen’s homilies and serves on editorial boards for *Fathers of the Church* and the USCCB’s Committee on Doctrine.
Educational Background: PhD (2008), MA (1995), MDiv (1993), BA (1989) from Saint John’s Seminary and Notre Dame. His pastoral roles include serving as a priest in the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend and pastor of St. Pius X Parish, Granger.
Research Interests: Latin/Greek Patristics, liturgical theology, sacramental mystagogy, and early Christian exegesis. Awards include the Catholic Press Association Award (2015) and teaching accolades from Notre Dame. He has lectured widely on patristic thought and priestly formation, emphasizing liturgical and ascetical dimensions of Christian life.
Publications span translations of patristic texts, articles on Origen, Bouyer, and liturgical renewal, and contributions to *Nova et Vetera*, *Communio*, and *Antiphon*. He also engages in pastoral outreach, leading retreats for clergy and advising on doctrinal matters.
