Sarah Spangler, Ph.D., is a Professor of Integrated Learning Communities (ILC) and Theology at the University of Providence. She holds a Ph.D. in Theology (Catholic: Historical – Patristics) from Fordham University (2010), an M.A. in Theology from Fordham (2001), and a B.A. in English from Seattle University (1998).
Her research focuses on Early Christian Monasticism, Origen of Alexandria, and Augustine. She actively engages in campus and community roles, including serving as Board Member at Catholic Central High School and St. Vincent de Paul in Great Falls, and as Chair of Faculty and Co-Director of the Core program at the University of Providence.
Dr. Spangler emphasizes liberal arts education for fostering critical thinking and personal growth. She advises students to pursue meaningful commitments through asking big questions and embracing lifelong learning. Her hobbies include cooking, gardening, hiking, and outdoor activities like kayaking in Western Montana.
