Joshua Getzler is Professor of Law and Legal History at the University of Oxford, affiliated with St Hugh's College. He holds additional positions as Conjoint Professor of Law at the University of New South Wales and Global Professor at New York University School of Law. His research spans legal history, financial market regulation, and fiduciary structures, with expertise in property, trust, and corporate law.
Research interests focus on the intersection of law and economics, particularly the duties of investment agents, structures of debt and equity securities, and the evolution of property rights in historical contexts. Significant work examines fiduciary accountability in both public finance and private banking frameworks.
Publications demonstrate expertise in water rights jurisprudence, Scottish trust law reforms, and historical analyses of corporate entities. Research outputs consistently engage with comparative legal traditions and economic frameworks.
