Colin Moore is a Lecturer at the Essex Law School, University of Essex, having joined in 2018 after serving as an Associate Lecturer at the University of Kent (2003-2018). He serves as trustee and Membership Secretary of the Social Legal Studies Association (SLSA), promoting socially-contextual legal research where doctrinal approaches traditionally dominate.
His research examines corporate governance through doctrinal, social theory, and economics methodologies, with particular focus on systems theory applications to governance, fiduciary law, and legal history. Secondary interests include 20th-century crime/policing history and women's police history.
Moore's publications reflect dual foci: contemporary corporate governance (exploring stakeholder rights, fiduciary duties, and CSR implementation) and historical policing (analyzing investigative doctrines and military justice). His legal scholarship consistently incorporates socio-theoretical frameworks.
He welcomes PhD supervision in corporate/fiduciary law, socio-legal theory, and historical criminology.
