Dr. Josh Kelsall is a post-doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Warwick's Political and International Studies Department and a member of the Interdisciplinary Ethics Research Group. His research focuses on epistemology, moral philosophy, and the philosophy of trust, expertise, and technology. He holds a PhD from the University of St Andrews and the University of Stirling, where his thesis explored the relationship between public audits and public trust in institutions.
In his current role, Kelsall leads or contributes to projects such as Moral Obligation and Epistemology: The Case of Vaccine Hesitancy, examining pandemic-related ethical dilemmas; GEMS, analyzing AI's role in counter-terrorism in gaming ecosystems; AdSoLve, addressing AI limitations in medical/ legal contexts; and ARTificial Intelligence, investigating AI's impact on creativity in the arts.
His work bridges theoretical ethics with applied issues, including vaccine hesitancy, extremist recruitment via gaming, and AI ethics. Kelsall's recent publications address topics like trustworthiness frameworks, moral-aesthetic prescriptivism, and the rationality of vaccine refusal as free-riding.
