Joseph T. Cochran is a Visiting Professor of History at Purdue University Northwest. He previously served as Visiting Assistant Professor at Wheaton College. His research focuses on the intellectual history of early American religious figures, particularly Jonathan Edwards, and the social/cultural history of evangelicals. Cochran holds a Ph.D. in History of Christian Thought from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, a Th.M. in New Testament from Dallas Theological Seminary, and a B.B.A. in Marketing from University of Texas at Arlington.
Research interests include Atlantic World History, American religious history, and the intersection of theology with cultural movements. He is completing a monograph on Jonathan Edwards' interpretation of Hebrews and a new work tracing evangelical influence since the 19th century. His publications analyze Edwards' theological frameworks and historical contexts.
Academic recognition includes roles as General Editor for The Anxious Bench, Board Officer for Conference on Faith and History, and Associate Fellow with the Royal Historical Society. His teaching spans Global History, American History, and the history of magic/folklore.
