Joseph Mooney is a Senior Lecturer and head coach of the UW-Superior men’s soccer team, holding the record for most wins in program history. He has led the team to multiple Upper Midwest Athletic Conference titles and a 2013 WIAC championship, earning Coach of the Year accolades. His coaching career includes roles at Spooner High School and as volunteer assistant coach under Chris Perez.
Education: B.S. in Broad Field Social Studies (UW-Superior, 2006), M.Ed. in Teacher Leadership (Silver Lake College, 2011). Holds a USSF National “B” license.
Research interests focus on athletic leadership, coaching strategies, and physical education curriculum development. Active in soccer development with international experience (Newtongrange Star, Scotland, 2003).

Lives in Superior with his wife and three daughters. Former Yellowjackets midfielder (2001-2005), team captain for three seasons.
