Roles & Affiliations: Joseph Jefferson currently serves as an Associate Professor of Music and Director of Jazz Ensemble at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. Previously, he held roles including Assistant Professor of Trombone/Euphonium and Director of Jazz Studies at Southeast Missouri State University, as well as faculty positions at the University of Portland, Treasure Valley Community College, Boise State University, and Tidewater Community College.
Education: Jefferson earned a Master of Music in Pedagogy from Shenandoah Conservatory (Shenandoah University) and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Trombone Performance from West Virginia University.
Research & Interests: His work focuses on music education, jazz ensemble direction, and trombone performance. He emphasizes pedagogical innovation and cross-cultural collaboration in music, particularly in fostering student creativity and technical proficiency. His performance career includes collaborations with renowned artists like The Irish Tenors, Stuart Dempster, Dwele, and Raheem Devaughn.
