Jeff Cortazzo is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Bass Trombone, Euphonium, and Tuba at Shenandoah University's Conservatory. With degrees from West Chester University (B.S.), DePaul University (M.M.), and The Catholic University of America (D.M.A.), his career spans 26 years as bass trombonist for The U.S. Army Blues, performing globally at venues like the Monterrey Jazz Festival alongside artists including Clark Terry and Natalie Cole.
He currently performs with the National Philharmonic, Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, and Washington Trombone Ensemble, while maintaining an active role as a composer of contemporary concert music and educator. His research integrates performance practice with acoustic innovation in brass instruments.
