Joseph Ibrahim is a Senior Lecturer and Course Director at Leeds Beckett University, affiliated with the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. He co-directs the Global Inequalities research programme, overseeing research strategy, funding proposals, and academic leadership. His role includes teaching BA (Hons) Sociology modules such as Culture, Media and Society, Modern Social Theory, and Politics, Protest and Social Movements.
- Research interests include social theory (particularly Pierre Bourdieu), political and social movements, and the impact of digital platforms on activism.
- He serves on the editorial boards of Sociological Research Online and the Journal of Cultural Analysis and Social Change, and the editorial review board of the Transforming Capitalism book series.
His current projects explore post-Brexit cultural-political attitudes and the role of digital platforms in movement parties like Momentum. He has published a monograph drawing on Bourdieu’s theories and a two-volume collection on left-wing activism with Routledge.
