Joseph Haydt is a Teaching Professor in the Divinity School at the University of Chicago. He holds dual PhDs in Germanic Studies and Theology (2022) from the same institution. His research explores intersections between religion, philosophy, and literature, with a focus on German Idealism and 18th-century intellectual history. Current projects include a book analyzing divine revelation theories in Goethe's era and studies on aesthetic theory and Mark Twain's rhetoric.

Research interests emphasize how religious and philosophical concepts manifest in literary works, particularly through figures like Kant, Fichte, Hegel, and Goethe. His work bridges philosophical theology, literary history, and scientific thought.
