Jan Kuneš is a philosopher affiliated with the Department of Philosophy at the University of Pardubice as an Assistant Professor, with external lecturer roles at Charles University in Prague and Palacký University in Olomouc. His research centers on German classical philosophy, particularly Kant, Fichte, and Hegel, and its reception in the 20th and 21st centuries.
- Education: Mgr. (1996) and Ph.D. (2002) from Charles University in Prague, with long-term studies at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen and the University of Chicago (1994-1999).
- Teaching Roles: External Lecturer at Palacký University (2001-2002), Charles University (2006-2007, 2025), and Assistant Professor at University of Pardubice (2008-2024).
Kuneš has published extensively on Kant's transcendental psychology, Heidegger's critique of metaphysics, and the intersections of German idealism with modern philosophical debates. His work often explores self-consciousness, the concept of the subject, and the ontological implications of classical philosophy. His recent articles (2016-2022) analyze themes in Kant's moral law, Heidegger's interpretation of Being and Time, and the evolution of self-consciousness theory.
He has also curated the Region of Landscapes exhibition (2018) and co-created the Czech Radio program A Century of Reason (2011), focusing on Kant and German idealism.
