Christian Weber is an Associate Professor and Associate Chair of Graduate Studies in the Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics at Florida State University, affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from Indiana University Bloomington. His research focuses on German literature and philosophy from the 18th century onward, with emphasis on Goethe's works, lyric poetry, aesthetic theory, nationalism's cultural history, and German cinema.

Weber's research explores the human imagination through interdisciplinary lenses, analyzing its role in shaping national identities and cultural frameworks. He has written extensively on Goethe's poetry as a critique of aesthetic philosophy and its relationship to Hegel and Kant. Current projects include biopolitical metaphors in nationalism formation and a monograph sequel on Goethe's later poetry.
His publications span Goethe studies, Romanticism, and critical theory. Notable works include Die Logik der Lyrik (2014) and articles on Goethe's Faust, Kleist's journalism, and Adorno's literary critiques. He teaches courses on German cinema, cultural theory, and Goethe's legacy.
Weber serves as the German program's graduate and study-abroad adviser. His academic leadership includes coordinating graduate studies and advising student research projects.
