Dr. Joseph Habib is a Research Fellow in Hebrew Linguistics and Philology at the University of Cambridge's Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies. His research focuses on early medieval Jewish exegesis, Judaeo-Arabic literature, and the intersection of Masoretic traditions with biblical interpretation. Key areas of expertise include the works of Saadya Gaon, Karaite scholars, and textual criticism of the Hebrew Bible. His recent publications analyze exegetical principles of Ya’qūb al-Qirqisānī, Saadya’s use of Masoretic accents, and Karaite interpretations of Leviticus. Habib’s work bridges linguistic analysis with historical and theological contexts of medieval Jewish scholarship.
