Dr. Benjamin Kantor is a Lecturer in Hebrew and the Jews of the Mediaeval Middle East at the University of Cambridge's Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies. He holds a B.A. in Classical Studies from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (2012) and a Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible from the University of Texas at Austin (2017). His research focuses on Medieval Hebrew vocalization traditions, Semitic philology, and Jewish-Arabic cultural interactions.
Teaching responsibilities include courses on Biblical Hebrew, Judaeo-Arabic, and Aramaic. He contributed to a reference grammar of Biblical Hebrew under Regius Professor Geoffrey Khan and supervises graduate students in related fields.
Research interests span Medieval Hebrew reading traditions, Arabic Bible translations, and Greek linguistic influences in Judaea-Palestine. His work bridges Biblical studies, historical linguistics, and medieval Jewish intellectual history.
