Joseph Coleman is a Professor of Practice at The Media School, Indiana University Bloomington, where he has taught since 2009. He specializes in newswriting and international reporting, with a focus on East Asia, Latin America, immigration, and aging workforce issues. Coleman brings over 20 years of experience as a foreign correspondent for the Associated Press, covering major global events across more than 20 countries.

His research and creative interests center on international journalism, with specific expertise in foreign correspondence, immigration, aging and work, and regional coverage of East Asia and Latin America. His approach combines rigorous reporting techniques with a commitment to social justice and truth-telling.
