Joseph A. Fournier is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Washington University in St. Louis, affiliated with the Department of Chemistry within the Arts & Sciences School. He holds a PhD from Yale University, a BS from the University of Connecticut, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Chicago. His research focuses on developing novel experimental techniques combining mass spectrometry, ultrafast spectroscopy, and cryogenic ion trapping to study reaction dynamics, particularly proton-coupled electron transfer (PCET) processes in biological systems and small molecule catalysis. Key projects include investigating tyrosine/tryptophan roles in biological PCET and organometallic catalysts for small molecule activation.
