Dr. Kim Greis is a Researcher in the Department of Analytical Chemistry at ETH Zürich, affiliated with the Professorship for Analytical Chemistry. Her work focuses on gas-phase ion chemistry, vibrational spectroscopy, and mechanistic studies of organic reactions, particularly glycosylation and carbohydrate chemistry. She employs advanced techniques like cryogenic infrared spectroscopy and mass spectrometry to investigate reactive intermediates and structural dynamics.
Research interests include carbohydrate analysis, ion mobility spectrometry, and the application of spectroscopic methods to study biomolecules. Notable contributions include characterizing glycosyl cations, studying peptide structures via FRET, and developing methods for siRNA analysis.
Her 15 most recent articles (2023–2025) span topics like carbohydrate conformation, fluorinated amino acid hydrogen bonding, and membrane protein characterization. Key journals include Nat. Synth., J. Am. Chem. Soc., and Helv. Chim. Acta.
Dr. Greis has received prestigious awards such as the Wolfgang-Paul-Promotionspreis (2024) and CAS Future Leaders recognition (2024–2025). She actively presents at international conferences, including the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting (2022) and DGMS annual meetings, and collaborates globally on projects involving cryogenic spectroscopy and reaction mechanism elucidation.
