معرفی
Etienne Garand is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, specializing in experimental physical chemistry. His research bridges theoretical predictions with practical applications in green energy, organic synthesis, and biological processes.
- Education: B.S. and M.S. from Université de Sherbrooke (2002, 2005), Ph.D. from University of California, Berkeley (2010), Postdoctoral Associate at Yale University (2010–12).
The Garand Group develops methodologies combining mass spectrometry, laser spectroscopy, and computational modeling to study reaction intermediates and transient complexes. Key innovations include cryogenic ion vibrational spectroscopy (CIVS), digital ion trapping (DIT), and the Solid Thermalization for Ionization and Clustering (STIC) instrument.
His publications focus on areas such as metal-ion interactions in peptides, solvent effects in catalysis, and electronic structure of organic chromophores. Recent work explores microsolvation, excited-state dynamics, and instrumentation for high-resolution spectroscopy.
Scientific awards include the NSF CAREER Award (2015). Collaborative efforts with organic and chemical biology groups emphasize tackling complex molecular interaction problems.
