Dr. Jorg Mathias is a Senior Teaching Fellow at the Aston Centre for Europe (ACE) within the Department of Politics, History and International Relations at Aston University. His research focuses on comparative regional studies, European welfare regimes, federalism, and executive power dynamics in Europe and the USA. He holds a PhD in Politics from Cardiff University (2000), a Diplom-Politikwissenschaftler from Leipzig (1994), and a Law Translation qualification from Leipzig (1994).
Key research interests include German and Swedish welfare systems, regional development policies, and the governance of European regions. He has published on topics ranging from local autonomy in social security systems to historical ecumenical movements.
