Joon Soo Lim is an Associate Professor of Public Relations at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, Syracuse University. His expertise spans corporate social advocacy for DEI, authenticity in CSR communication, eHealth communication, and the ethical implications of disruptive technologies like AI and social media. He teaches courses on PR theory, diversity, campaigns, and research.
Lim’s research focuses on managerial and ethical challenges in public communication campaigns, particularly regarding social media and AI misuse. Topics include deceptive advertising, fake news, brand safety, health risks of PM2.5, and parasocial relationships with live streamers. His work has been published in over 3 dozen journals, including Communication Research, Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, and Technology in Society.
