Jonathan Todres is a Professor of Law at Georgia State University’s College of Law, specializing in children’s rights, international human rights, and human trafficking. He holds a J.D. from Columbia Law School and a B.A. from Clark University with high honors in International Development. His research focuses on child trafficking, economic and social rights, and legal constructs of childhood. Todres has authored Human Rights in Children’s Literature: Imagination and the Narrative of Law (Oxford UP, 2016).
He advises NGOs on legislative initiatives addressing child trafficking and serves as Child Rights Advisor to ECPAT-USA and a board member of the Georgia Asylum and Immigration Network. A Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, Todres has led National Academies committees on bullying prevention and child trafficking. He teaches courses in Human Rights and Children, Public Health Law, Torts, and Family Law, and is part of the Center for Law, Health & Society.
Todres’s scholarship bridges law and policy, emphasizing children’s participation in rights frameworks. His recent work highlights education as a core anti-trafficking strategy and advocates for an integrated approach to children’s rights. He has also explored youth voice in environmental rights and the role of arts in human rights education.
