Jonathan M. Newman is an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of English at Missouri State University. He specializes in medieval literature, rhetoric, and cultural studies. His research focuses on medieval Latin texts, Middle English literature, and gender studies. Newman holds a PhD in Medieval Studies from the University of Toronto (2008) and a BA from the University of Florida (1999).
His teaching portfolio includes courses such as History of the English Language, Early English Literature, and Introduction to Shakespeare. He co-advises the Sigma Tau Delta chapter at Missouri State University.
Recent research explores topics like Ciceronian ethos in medieval rhetoric, audience reception in John Gower’s works, and the intersection of medieval clerical culture and gender dynamics. He has published in journals like Florilegium and Studies in the Age of Chaucer.
