Jonathan J. Arnold

Jonathan J. Arnold is an Associate Professor of Ancient and Medieval History and Chair of History at The University of Tulsa's College of Arts & Sciences, with additional leadership as Director of Classical Studies. His academic career focuses on late antiquity and early medieval Western Europe, particularly Gaul and Italy.

Arnold specializes in the disintegration of the Western Roman Empire and identity formation in the 5th and 6th centuries. His research integrates Late Antiquity, Barbarian Kingdoms, Gender Studies, and Mediterranean geopolitics during the Fall of Rome period.

His publications, such as A Companion to Ostrogothic Italy, reflect trends in post-Roman identity, Gothic political structures, and Mediterranean historical continuity. These works align with keywords in classical philology, medieval migration studies, and imperial restoration theories.
