Dr Jonathan Hughes is a Senior Lecturer in Ethics at the School of Law, Keele University. He serves as Programme Director for the MA Medical Ethics and Palliative Care, HumSS Faculty Research Integrity Champion, and Law School Academic Conduct Officer. His academic journey includes a BA in Philosophy from Bristol University and a PhD in Political Theory from Manchester University. He co-founded the Centre for Professional Ethics at Keele and has directed postgraduate ethics courses for healthcare, biotechnology, and policing professionals.

Research focuses on medical ethics, research ethics, and policing ethics. He has organized major conferences such as 'Ethics of Disordering' (2016) and 'Ethical Policing Workshop' (2011). His work includes co-authoring the European Commission’s European Textbook on Ethics in Research.
Publications span clinical ethics, environmental philosophy, and interdisciplinary ethics. He has peer-reviewed for journals like Journal of Medical Ethics and publishers including OUP and Springer. Current doctoral supervision includes studies on end-of-life care and ethical dilemmas in healthcare.
