Jonathan Hausman serves as Chief Strategy Officer at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP) and Distinguished Fellow at the University of Toronto's Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy. At OTPP, he leads strategy development across Global Investment Strategy, Sustainable Investing, Government & Public Affairs, and Marketing & Communications teams while serving on the Executive Team and Global Investment Committee.
Hausman holds a BA (Hons.) from McGill University, MSc. (Econ.) from the London School of Economics, and MPA from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, plus ICD.D certification. His academic background is complemented by extensive practical experience in global finance and policy.
His research and professional work focuses on the intersection of global political economy, sustainable investment practices, and public policy. He examines systemic financial risks, sovereign debt dynamics, and ESG integration in institutional portfolios, drawing from cross-sector experience in government, academia, and pension fund management.
At OTPP, Hausman oversees critical strategic functions including alternative investments and global tactical asset allocation. Previously, he managed sovereign risk strategy at Goldman Sachs across New York, Hong Kong, and London offices, advising multiple governments on fiscal policy and market stabilization.
Hausman chairs the Canadian Council for the Americas and serves on Capitalize for Kids’ board. His career bridges academic scholarship in political economy with frontline leadership in global investment strategy, maintaining active engagement with policy institutions through his Munk School affiliation.
