معرفی
Jonathan F. Fay is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. His research focuses on structural biology, particularly using cryo-EM to study G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), membrane proteins, and ABC proteins. He also develops methods to improve cryo-EM data collection and analysis.
- Education:
- B.A. in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology, Reed College (1995–1999)
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology, Oregon Health & Science University (2006–2012)
His lab specializes in structural studies of GPCRs, including their pharmacological and functional mechanisms, and explores techniques to enhance cryo-EM resolution and efficiency. Key areas include allosteric regulation, RNA editing in receptors, and protein dynamics.
The 2022 publications highlight work on serotonin receptors, cryo-EM optimization, and LSD-induced signaling. Earlier work (2018, 2015) investigated CFTR channel structure and cannabinoid receptor dynamics. Topics span structural biology, neuroscience, and pharmacology.
Research keywords include membrane proteins, cryo-EM, and structural biology. His work bridges molecular mechanisms with broader implications in neuropharmacology and disease-related protein functions.
- Labs:
- Focus on cryo-EM and structural studies of GPCRs, ABC proteins, and method development
