Jonathan Duarte is an Associate Professor in the Department of Math & Physical Sciences at Southwestern Adventist University since 2014. Previously, he served as Assistant Professor (2010–2014) and Instructor (2009–2010) at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education (Illinois State University, 2010), M.S. in Mathematics (2003), and dual B.S. degrees in Mathematics (1999) and Mechanical Engineering (1994) from institutions in the Philippines. His research focuses on mathematics education, teacher training, and algebra pedagogy.
Membership affiliations include the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (AMTE), and Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME). His publications explore topics such as undergraduate algebra course impacts on teachers, student performance in equations, and problem-solving strategies in pre-service teachers.
