A. Susan Gay is an Associate Professor and Middle Math Education Program Coordinator at The University of Kansas. She joined the faculty in January 1991 after serving as Oklahoma's mathematics state supervisor and a mathematics teacher. She holds a BS in mathematics, MS in secondary education (mathematics emphasis), and EdD in curriculum and instruction (middle/secondary mathematics education) from Oklahoma State University.

Her research focuses on students' mathematical concept knowledge, mathematics vocabulary comprehension, and teacher professional development. She currently serves as AMTE Conference Director and previously led NCATE's Board of Examiners.
