Jonathan Cross is Professor of Musicology and Student/Tutor at Christ Church, University of Oxford. He directs the Oxford Ertegun Humanities Graduate Programme and specializes in 20th-century music.
Research examines Stravinsky, Birtwistle, and spectral music through analytical and historical frameworks. Current projects investigate intersections between music, ecology, and climate consciousness.
Publications include monographs on Harrison Birtwistle and Stravinsky. Recent work explores music's role in representing environmental crises and natural phenomena.
