Jonathan Berger is a Clinical Associate Professor of Studio Art at New York University's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. His work spans sculpture, installation, performance, and curatorial projects, emphasizing cross-disciplinary approaches to exhibition creation and presentation. He has organized notable exhibitions including 'On Creating Reality, by Andy Kaufman' (2013) and 'Stuart Sherman: Nothing Up My Sleeve' (2009), featured in the 2009 PERFORMA Biennial. His projects blend traditional and non-traditional mediums, exploring themes of context, collaboration, and audience engagement.
Education: MFA from NYU (2006), BFA from California Institute of the Arts (2002). Grants and residencies include the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant and fellowships at Yaddo and the MacDowell Colony. Currently organizing the first solo museum exhibition of Bread and Puppet Theater's Peter Schumann for the Queens Museum of Art.
Research interests include experimental exhibition practices, relational aesthetics, and the intersection of art with education and social exchange. His curatorial work frequently recontextualizes materials through collaboration and dialogue with artists and communities.
