Jon Faddis is a Grammy Award-nominated jazz trumpet player, conductor, composer, and educator affiliated with Purchase College, State University of New York as a Professor of Music in the Conservatory of Music’s Jazz Studies department. Born in Oakland, California, in 1953, he began his musical journey at age eight, influenced by Louis Armstrong and later mentored by Dizzy Gillespie. His career spans collaborations with jazz legends, leadership of renowned orchestras, and a commitment to education.

Faddis’s expertise encompasses jazz performance, trumpet mastery, orchestral conducting, and music composition. He has directed multiple Grammy-winning ensembles, including the United Nation Orchestra and the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band, and contributed to over 300 recordings with artists like Charles Mingus, Gil Evans, and Aretha Franklin.
