John Young is a Senior Lecturer in History at the University of Strathclyde's School of Humanities. His expertise centers on 17th-18th century Scottish history, including the Covenanters, the pre-1707 Scottish Parliament, and Scotland-Ulster relations. He has published internationally and edits Parliaments, Estates and Representation for the ICHRPI. His teaching focuses on Scottish political history and the 1707 Act of Union.

- MA (University of Glasgow, 1988): First Class Honours in History
Research: Explores Scottish parliamentary systems, religious-political conflicts (Covenanters), transnational links between Scotland and Ulster, and the constitutional legacy of the 1707 Union. His work appears in French, Polish, and Catalan parliamentary journals.
