Dr Coree Brown Swan is a Lecturer in Politics at the University of Stirling and Director of the Scottish Political Archive. Her research focuses on UK constitutional dynamics, particularly Scottish independence and union politics, post-Brexit governance, and devolution. She previously held roles at Queen's University Belfast and the Edinburgh-based Centre on Constitutional Change, and holds a PhD from the University of Edinburgh.
Her work explores intergovernmental relations, constitutional crises, and comparative nationalism. Recent projects include an ESRC-funded study on devolution at 25. She teaches Scottish/UK politics and qualitative methods, and regularly engages in parliamentary evidence and media commentary on constitutional issues.
Key research themes include post-Brexit economic union challenges, Conservative Party strategies in Scotland/Wales, and narratives of Scottish nationalism. Over 28 scholarly outputs span constitutional law, crisis governance, and comparative multinational state analysis.
Her advisory work includes contributions to UK/Scottish parliamentary inquiries and media analysis. Current focus areas include the UK Internal Market Act's implications for devolution and pandemic-era constitutional stress-testing.
