John W. Grant is an Associate Professor of Politics and Chair of the Politics Department at Hillsdale College. He holds a Ph.D. in Politics from the University of Dallas (2009) and previously earned an M.A. in Politics (1997) and B.A. in Political Science and History (1994) from the University of Dallas and Eureka College, respectively.

His research focuses on classical and modern political philosophy, natural law, and the intersection of religion and politics. He has taught courses on the U.S. Constitution, American Political Thought, Classical Political Philosophy, and World Politics, with a particular emphasis on thinkers like Aristotle, Leo Strauss, and Solzhenitsyn.
Recent publications highlight his engagement with Theodore Roosevelt’s imperial ideology, Harry Jaffa’s Thomism, and critiques of Rawlsian liberalism. His scholarly work bridges historical analysis and contemporary political theory.
