John W. Fantuzzo

John W. Fantuzzo is a Professor and founder/director of the Penn Early Childhood and Family Research Center at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education (Penn GSE). He is also co-founder and co-director of the Actionable Intelligence for Social Policy (AISP) network, supported by the MacArthur Foundation. His career spans over four decades in early childhood research, with a focus on integrated data systems (IDS) to improve outcomes for vulnerable children in urban areas.

Education & Positions: Dr. Fantuzzo has held faculty positions at institutions including the University of Rochester (1983), California State University Fullerton (1986), and Fuller Graduate School of Psychology. He has led major projects such as the Philadelphia Kids Integrated Data System (KIDS) and co-authored Actionable Intelligence (2015), detailing IDS applications in government.

Research Interests: He specializes in leveraging IDS to bridge education, health, and social services, particularly for low-income urban communities. His work includes validating PA’s Kindergarten Entry Inventory and developing interventions like the Evidence-based Program for Integrated Curricula (EPIC). He advocates for data-driven solutions to address systemic inequities in early childhood education and policy.
