John Tøndering

John Tøndering serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Nordic Studies and Linguistics at the University of Copenhagen's Faculty of Humanities, where his research centers on acoustically grounded phonetics with specialized focus on prosody (stress, intonation, and rhythm) in Danish speech.

His primary research domains include the interplay between prosodic and grammatical structure in spoken language, regional prosodic variation across Danish dialects, rhythm patterns in Danish variants, and acoustic speech analysis. Current projects investigate regional accent recognition mechanisms, aspiration time-vowel height relationships in stop consonants, and standardization of the Prosody in Use Battery (PUB) for clinical speech assessment.
