Matthew Gordon is a Professor of Linguistics at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), within the College of Letters and Science. His research focuses on phonetics, phonology, prosody, and linguistic typology, with a particular emphasis on understudied languages such as Estonian, Chickasaw, Koasati, Kabardian, and others. He holds a Ph.D. from UCLA (1999) and has published extensively on topics including speech rhythm, tone-stress interactions, and prosodic structures in morphologically complex languages.
