John T. Plecnik is an Associate Professor of Law and Director of the MLS Program at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Cleveland State University, teaching Tax I, Tax Procedure, Penalties & Crimes, Wealth Transfer Tax, and Estates & Trusts. Previously, he taught at North Carolina Central University and Georgetown University Law Center.
His educational background includes:
- B.A., summa cum laude, in Accounting with minor in Mythology from Belmont Abbey College (co-valedictorian)
- J.D., cum laude, from Duke University School of Law
- LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law
- Certificate in Business Excellence from Columbia University Graduate School of Business

Professor Plecnik's internationally recognized scholarship focuses on taxation-public policy intersections, with research cited by the Congressional Research Service, U.S. District Court for New Mexico, and Supreme Court of the United States.
