John T. Pinto

John T. Pinto, Ph.D., is a Professor at the School of Medicine, New York Medical College, affiliated with the Departments of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Medicine. His research focuses on diet-derived factors in cancer prevention, particularly mechanisms involving sulfur- and selenium-containing compounds in prostate, breast, and colon cancers.

Dr. Pinto investigates how organosulfur, organoselenium, and polyphenolic compounds modulate redox-responsive metabolic pathways and epigenetic mechanisms such as histone deacetylation. His work identifies these compounds as potential histone deacetylase inhibitors, relevant to cancer and viral disease control.
