John T. Pham

Dr. John T. Pham serves as Dean and Chief Academic Officer of the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM), leading curriculum innovation and fostering student success. Previously, he was Vice Dean at Western University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine Northwest and an Associate Professor of Family Medicine. A Vietnamese American physician, he emigrated to the U.S. in 1975, earned his DO from Des Moines University (2000), and completed family medicine residency at Eastmoreland Hospital (2003).

His career combines clinical practice, education, and advocacy. As a solo practitioner in Portland, he served Vietnamese immigrant communities while mentoring future physicians. His leadership focuses on integrating holistic approaches into medical training and advancing policies that enhance healthcare accessibility. He has championed curriculum reforms at UIWSOM to emphasize student-centered learning and compassionate care delivery.

Awarded for mentoring excellence, Dr. Pham’s legacy includes inspiring generations of osteopathic physicians. His professional engagements span roles in state and national osteopathic associations, advocating for equitable healthcare practices and education standards.
