Douglas W. Warden

Douglas W. Warden, MD, is the Associate Dean of Medical Education and Associate Professor of Pathology at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM). A Central Texas native, he earned a BA in Biology from Baylor University and an MD from Texas A&M University College of Medicine – Scott and White Hospital.

Dr. Warden specializes in hematopathology, focusing on autoimmune mechanisms in thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP), diagnostic marker development for low-grade B-cell neoplasms, and medical information management. His leadership includes overseeing curriculum design for the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program, with direct responsibility for the Phase I (preclinical) curriculum.

As a founding faculty member, he developed UIWSOM's pathology curriculum and teaches hematology, coagulation, and hematopoietic neoplasms. Prior to UIWSOM, he served as Chief of Pathology at St. Luke's Baptist Hospital and directed laboratory services in San Antonio.
