John Sherry

Dr. John Sherry serves as Associate Professor and Department Chair in Psychology at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), Prince George campus, with over 20 years of clinical experience. He directs UNBC's Community Counselling Clinic and co-founded its off-site practicum placement program for counselling students.

His educational background includes a PhD and MS from Fordham University and a BA from San Diego State University. Dr. Sherry specializes in experiential approaches to clinical training, focusing on group dynamics and therapeutic processes. His work integrates psychodrama techniques with contemporary counselling frameworks to address complex interpersonal issues.

As President of both the Prince George Chapter and National Canadian Group Psychotherapy Association (CGPA), he actively shapes professional standards. He also serves on committees for the British Columbia Association for Clinical Counsellors (BCACC), influencing regulatory practices across the province. His leadership extends to facilitating process groups for graduate students and community professionals, bridging academic training with real-world application.
