Dr. John Shepherd is a Research Professor at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, serving as Chief Scientific Officer at the University of Hawaiʻi Cancer Center and B.H. and Alice C. Beams Endowed Professor in Cancer Research at John A. Burns School of Medicine. His work bridges medical imaging, artificial intelligence, and epidemiology to advance early cancer detection and metabolic health assessment.
His research spans:
- Breast Cancer Risk Modeling for underrepresented Pacific populations via the Hawaii Pacific Islands Mammography Registry
- 3D Optical Imaging for body composition analysis in pediatrics, athletes, and extreme environments
