Roles & Affiliations: Dr. Kiran Sheikh is an Assistant Professor of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at Yale University, affiliated with the Yale School of Medicine and the Yale Institute for Global Health. She serves as Program Director for the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at Bridgeport Hospital - Yale New Haven Health. Her clinical practice focuses on breast imaging, including 3D mammography (tomosynthesis), ultrasound, and MRI, alongside breast biopsies and needle localization procedures.
Education & Training: She earned a BA in Neuroscience from Johns Hopkins University and an MD from the University of Michigan Medical School. She completed her radiology residency at Weill Cornell Medical Center and a fellowship in Body and Breast Imaging at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
Research & Global Health: Her research prioritizes optimizing breast imaging technologies (tomosynthesis, ultrasound, MRI) to enhance disease detection. She collaborates with RAD-AID Ghana and the Ghana Association of Radiologists, conducting in-country radiology assessments and training local clinicians. Her efforts contributed to establishing Ghana’s first breast imaging fellowship, for which she now serves as an external examiner.
Awards & Recognition: Recipient of the RSNA Roentgen Resident Research Award (2013) and Teacher of the Year at Bridgeport Hospital (2017–2018).
Clinical & Academic Roles: Leads residency programs, actively participates in multidisciplinary cancer care at Smilow Cancer Hospital locations, and advocates for patient education in breast health. Her work spans academic research, clinical innovation, and global health equity in radiology.
