John Saillant

John Saillant is a Professor of English and History at Western Michigan University's Department of History. He holds a Ph.D. in American Civilization from Brown University (1989). His research critically examines African American history, Black Atlantic studies, religious practices, and print culture through transdisciplinary frameworks.

Research interests focus on the intersections of race, religion, and resistance in colonial contexts, with emphasis on:
