John Rise

John Rise is a Professor at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), School of Foundation Studies, where he has taught since 2005. He concurrently serves as Director and President of learnART in Savannah, GA. His educational background includes an M.F.A. in Art Studio and M.A. in Art from the University of New Mexico, and a B.F.A. in Drawing from Arizona State University.

His research focuses on art pedagogy, material studies, and cultural impacts on representational art. Notable interests include traditional art techniques in digital contexts, globalization's effect on artistic expression, and foundational drawing methodologies.

Professor Rise has received multiple Ambassador's Choice Awards from SCAD's Student Ambassador Program (2012-2014). His exhibition record includes solo and group shows across the United States and internationally, with presentations at venues like the Miami International Art Fair and Budapest's Vizivarosi Gallery.
