Primrose has secured grants from CRUK, Merck Healthcare KGaA, and the Academy of Medical Sciences. He co-edits the Oxford Textbook of General Surgery and chairs CRUK-funded translational projects such as BILCAP tissue sequencing to identify actionable mutations in bile duct cancers. His contributions to surgical education include international lectures and training initiatives for clinical academic surgeons.
He has been recognized with an H-index of 50, reflecting his prolific publication record. Key awards include his NIHR Senior Investigator status and Academy of Medical Sciences membership.
