معرفی
John Moosbrugger is a Research Professor at Clarkson University's Coulter School of Engineering & Applied Sciences, Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering. He advises the Clarkson Formula SAE Team, ASME Student Chapter, and SAE Student Branch. His research focuses on plasticity/viscoplasticity modeling, cyclic deformation of metals, and microstructural kinetics.
Education: Ph.D. (1988), M.S. (1985) Georgia Institute of Technology; B.S. (1981) Wright State University.
Research emphasizes ultrafine-grain nickel behavior, cyclic plasticity of single crystals, and fatigue life prediction. Projects include dislocation substructure analysis, biaxial experiment modeling, and finite element simulations of shear band localization. Key contributions involve mixtures models correlating dislocation structures with mechanical behavior.
Teaches courses in dynamical systems, machine mechanics, vibrations, and plasticity theory. Active in NSF-funded REU programs focusing on nanoscale materials engineering for undergraduates.
Labs/Teams: Leads Formula SAE Team projects and collaborates with Dr. David Morrison on crystal plasticity studies.
