John Mariampillai

Dr. John Mariampillai is a Senior Lecturer in International Business and Strategy at Royal Holloway, University of London (School of Business and Management), having joined in January 2024. Previously, he held Senior Lecturer roles at Roehampton University, Buckinghamshire University (as MBA Programme Director), Northumbria University London, and Plymouth Marjon University. He holds a PhD in Internationalisation and HE Policy (2014, University of West London) and an MA in International Business (2007, Bucks New University).

His research focuses on private-public partnerships, internationalisation of higher education, and the marketisation of academic institutions. Key projects include Global Citizenship and Business Education (QR funding, PI), ERDF-funded Graduate Link to Develop New Enterprise, and multiple Erasmus+ initiatives (e.g., Cyber Security Technologies syllabus development, Strengthening Internationalisation in Bosnia & Herzegovina HE). His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education).

External roles include External Examiner at EM Normandie Business School (2024–present), Arden University (2022–2023), and Newcastle University Centre (2021–present). He serves on the Editorial Board of the European Journal of Educational Research (2021–present).

He has led projects such as the 2021–2022 Research England QR SPF-funded initiative on Global Citizenship and Business Education. His peer-reviewed articles analyze collaborative HE provision, student perceptions, and policy impacts.
